When stuff gets tight just break out a hacksaw with a new 32 tooth blade.  As long as the rails line up in gauge, the right of way retains longitudinal alignment and the rail heads share the exact same plane, all is good. Bonding jumpers as required.

That is unless you really want 8 3/8" centerlines.

Thanks Tommy, I will likely cut them as they will be crossing a 54 and 42 oval.

Atlas track system  (Click on underlined, to access a slideshow, in a photobucket file). The Atlas system was designed on 9" increment track center diameters.  O27, O36, O45, O54, O63, O72 .... Etc.  Space between track (centers) 4.5"  These are O54 switches  installed as a cross over.   You can fabricate short, or custom, pieces as needed. 

I used the two different angle cross pieces, picture center,  the combination  required a slight correction, under the wood road crossing.
