How many K-Line 54-inch curved sections (old-style track) are needed to make a circle? Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly, it's 16.

It takes 12 sections to make a circle, just like traditional Gilbert track.
EDIT: As an aside, I'd mention that the K-Line track I've purchased exhibits a manufacturing flaw that I find a bit irritating. Namely, the ends of the rails on the 54" curves are not trimmed "flush". On some sections it seems that one rail (usually the inside) is nearly 1/8" too short. The sections go together OK, and the trains run, but there's up to a 1/8" gap between the rail ends on some sections so the train is actually running on the rail joiner for a short distance instead of on the rail head itself. If you like "clickety-clack" sounds I guess this is OK. I do have a few circles of 54" track that came with my Ready-to-Run Docksider sets and the track ends appear to be trimmed a bit more flush. Maybe I just got a bad batch of the K-Line stuff. I'm not sure if others have seen this minor problem.
Your mileage may vary.
I am not sure this is a problem you will encounter but I have a couple of K-Line straights on my Gilbert Flyer layout and the gauge on the K-Line is a little narrower than the Gilbert track. My American Models GPs get a little tipsy on the K-Line.

Thanks to all for the replies and information. Since there was conflicting information, and not wanting to pay for shipping a second order if I came up short, I bought 16, figuring that I could always use extra pieces to insert a couple of s-curves. It turns out that the correct answer is that 12 pieces make a circle.
As for the gauge, it seems identical to my AF by Lionel track, but we will see what happens when wheels hit the rails. Unfortunately, I have some building to do before that happens.
Yes the K-Line curves do not have properly trimmed ends, which is indeed frustrating. Perhaps this has been corrected with Lionel taking over?
