I don’t know if this is the right forum to ask this but I guess the appropriate person will move it if necessary.

Anyway im wondering if it’s possible for cw80 transformers to get weaker? I guess anything’s possible but is this probable? It just seems like it will run only the most basic of locos now.

I feel it is more likely that:

  • your trains are getting longer
  • the track plan has expanded
  • additional powered accessories
  • large locomotives with larger or more motors
  • inadvertently deferred maintenance (track & wheel cleaning, lubrication of motors and trucks and such)

All things considered, 80 watts is not a lot of power for an O Gauge setup as it is barely adequate for a simple ready to run loop of track.

Ok. I got it figured out. Though I still find the cw80 anemic. My problem was a bit of corrosion on battery terminal. It’s just an 072 circle and couldn’t get my mth Allegheny to go. That said this thing won’t run my legacy Allegheny. Thanks for the help. I had just cleaned all the track try to run and nothing. But like I said it was battery.
