Dave, I’m sorry to say that at 77 years old now, I think my days of crawling all over a layout for two or three days with lights, cameras, tripods, and microphones, are over.

Rich,

You're still a young guy!  I just turned 79 and got a heart pacemaker for my birthday last week.  I really wanted a new O gauge locomotive but the doctor said I can't lift anything more than 10 pounds for six weeks.  Darn.    No Big Boy for me.  NH Joe

Maybe we can convince another Dave, our mutual friend, to do the shooting?  I know I'd lend him a hand to see Dave's layout.

Rich:  you did a FABULOUS job shooting the Glacier Line.  I wish that you or someone with OGR was still doing videos.  I have purchased all of them.

Like Dave, my layout was shot in 2016 and has undergone SIGNIFICANT changes.  It would be great to have updated videos for both Dave and me. :-)

Happy Retirement!  I've been there 3.5 years now.  AWESOME

Hi Rich. You didn’t mention “crawling under”!  I’m doing some rewiring but I’m only 73. LOL.

Getting back up is a real experience.

I knew Dave was super artistic from seeing some of the motorcycles that he custom painted.  But his home layout - WOW!  I usually don't watch longer videos but I just couldn't stop on this one!

I've been to his store and saw the in-store layout and it was fabulous too, but his home layout is 100 steps above it!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad now that I stopped in on this thread and saw the link to his home layout that Rich shot - I've not seen it before. @Strummer thanks for creating this thread and @Rich Melvin thanks for providing that link.

Dave, if you check in here, holy smokes your layout scenery, all of it, is the best that I've ever seen.  And how in the world could anyone (besides you) create that arch bridge in "an afternoon"?

Believe it or not, Walt, Dave doesn't just paint motorcycles; he builds the darn things from the ground up. He actually had a custom motorcycle shop/business at one point, prior to opening the much-missed Mercer Junction Train Shoppe. The bikes he has in his shop below his train layout are truly gorgeous to behold.

I visited Dave a couple of weeks ago, and was amazed at the number of significant changes/improvements/enhancements he had made to the layout in a relatively brief period of a few months. It just keeps getting better and better, and I am blessed to have talented friends (and colleagues) like him.
