DC and AC compatabiliy

I have my turnouts hooked up an auxiliary 1.8 Amp Lionel power supply 6-32923, It is variable AC. Presently my original power supply {train set} is connected to the MTH TB. Both Ac power supplies are connected to each other. The reason was to have the trunouts not dependent on the track power. I have a MTH Z-4000 but I am not ready to use it. I am messing with Lionchief hopefully to make it easier for my grand kids to play. Will I run into problems if I connect the DC 72 watt to the track via the MTH terminal board and simply disconnect the train set power but leave the AC aux power still connected to the turnouts?
