My PS3 engine works fine.  I can take it from inactive to active with no problems but my Ps2 engine will not respond to take it from inactive to active.  They both worked fine prior to taking the DCS Explorer to York for updating.  When I got home and tried it is when the issue appeared.  There could be an unrelated problem that I am not aware of.  Any suggestions?

Side Rod, I'm not sure if that relates to the update or not.  I frequently have issues with the Explorer not recognizing engines.  I don't know why.  It happened yesterday for a while.  I turned the power off and walked away.  I came back a half hour later and turned on the power.  Then it recognized it.  In another instance, I disconnected the Explorer, connected a Z-Controller, ran the engine conventionally for a bit, then reconnected the Explorer.  Then it recognized it.  So I think it's a little finicky.

I had reset the app several times which did not help.  Before resetting the Explorer, I removed a z1000 controller from a loop of track under the layout that is used to run a Thomas the tank train when young kids are over to see the layout.  I plugged the Explorer in, rebooted everything and the ps2 engine responded.  Ran well.

I then reconnected the Explorer to my layout and could not move the engine to active.  With jumper leads, I went from the Explorerto the track.  The engine activated and worked fine.  I have had the Explorer since the April TCA train meet and it worked as it should have.  The only thing that changed  was bringing the Explorer to York for the update, which I thank you for.  Somehow this update changed something.

I’m going to revisit my wiring and see if I can shorten the wires to replicate the length of the jumper leads.  I hope this will work.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your time and effort Barry!

Barry,

The fact that I could run the engine with jumper wires to the Explorer pointed me in the direction of the wiring.  When I added the DCS Commander, I spliced into the wiring.  When I added the Explorer, I again spliced into that wiring.  I just spent the afternoon going from the Explorer to the terminal strip.  My guess is this increased the signal enough to make work again.

So yes, the upgrade to the Explorer and my engine work fine now.

Thank you again for working me through this experience!
