Now it is my turn to have a DCS problem. Yesterday I ran a train for about 40 minutes. When I returned to the remote to shut the engine down, pressing the appropriate button produced no results, nor was there any other response from other button, like the horn or bell.

Today I tried to fire up an engine with DCS, and I got the remote to recognize the particular engine. And the engine started up, but no other commands worked.i.e. the engine would not mover, no bell no whistle, but yet it started up.

Any ideas? The remote might need a fresh set of batteries, even no the remote has not sent a message of a low battery indication.

Any ideas?

The problem is fixed! I am embarrassed  to say, but it was a battery issue in the remote. As I mentioned I was working in the basement, and was not using the remote once my train was in motion. After about 35 minutes I grabbed the remote to give the train a command, and it operated for a second and all went dead. Had I been watching the remote I would have seen the low battery alert and could have avoided all this mess. I greatly appreciate your tips as to what to look for and try. Sorry; but I am happy it was just a battery problem and an easy fix.
