Does anyone know where I can purchase passenger car diaphragms for the above MTH and Lionel manufacturers?

Could you be more specific? Is there only one John in Lansing?
Scale City Models has the old Kiel Line diaphragms. I believe you still can get the factory ones from Lionel and MTH.

From LIONEL and MTH with a part number.

Thank you
I love the "Does anyone know..." questions. It is a great way to meet people on OGR. It is also one of the reasons it is called a FORUM. I have gotten some really great information from fellow members by asking that question. I appreciate it. Keep asking it. Matt

I think he is recommending himself as a source.

I sure wouldn't know that from that response!

Yes. Took me a few minutes and looking up stuff.
The matter is described in some detail in this earlier OGRF thread which I found helpful:

In that case that comment you posted previously is incorrect!
Thanks for the inputs. I have ordered some from Lionel and some from MTH.
Have a second question - what type of adhesive is best for attaching the (rubber?) diaphragms to the plastic passenger cars?

Small amounts of rubber cement or Walther's "GOO".
You won't need adhesive if you use the factory ones. They have tabs (MTH) or flaps (K-Line-Lionel) that fit around the doorways.

Hi Martin,
If you're looking for the more modern rubber tube style diaphragm, I've had pretty good luck using Atlas-O's rubber diaphragms from the Comet cars on cars from K-Line, MTH, and Atlas. There wasn't a part number, but if you call their parts department and ask for the O-Gauge Comet Car Diaphragm they should be able to get you the right part, they were fairly inexpensive. In the photo below I installed it on an Atlas-O California Zephyr car... after removing the original diaphragm I carefully glued down the replacement rubber tube styled one.
Thanks,
Mat

Thank you. I was going to call Atlas to check to see if they had diaphragms for two Train Master GM&O cars that I came across recently. I will request additional parts from them.

I have the earlier Premier Pullmans without interiors which I will sell. I pulled the silhouette strips out and replaced with a lightly frosted looking clear strips.
7 cars. 70' cars.

I have a complete set of cars, but am in the process of securing diaphragms for the K line cars. Have some, but will search for the at the next York meeting this fall.
thank you

Perfectly plus they are made of better rubber which doesn't deteriorate.

Brassuers has the brunt of old K Line parts. I ordered replacement diaphragms for some K Line 60 footers last year.
We stock the Lionel / K-Lines ones at Henning’s Trains.
