DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CAB 1 MODE AND TMCC WITH LEGACY

Cab 1 mode will show numbers on the keypad. Tmcc mode will show the icons. They both correspond as the same. Tmcc mode might show added icons/features that were added to your S2 if it had any extra features like in lighting, etc.

As for sounds, I don't see the difference in RS or in RS5 when using a RS engine with the RS 5 setting. I would just program it as RS.

I think you are right. that though is not a big issue.

I just wondered why they show both on the Cab1 remote if they basically work the same.

I am just trying to see why this Lionel S-2 diesel is not acting like I feel it should.

CAB1 and R100 give relative speed steps, the difference being R100 gives you the keypad icons and the speed graph.  TMCC gives you 32 absolute speed steps, and Legacy gives you 200 speed steps.

FWIW, R100 was added to support ERR stuff with it's 100 speed steps.
