I am programming an older Lionel TMCC engine -Lionel 28531 S-2 diesel - into my Legacy System, The choices for the Control Type on the remote asks is it TMCC or Cab 1 control. What is the difference ?

I know the speed and operation is different when you program in either TMCC or Legacy for an engine.

Does this also matter when programming in Railsounds or Railsounds 5 ?

Engine responds OK but seems rather slow and will not go over a very slow speed (maybe 10-20 MPH scale)  no matter how much I turn the red knob.

Any help in this clarification is appreciated.

Jim,

Cab 1 mode will show numbers on the keypad. Tmcc mode will show the icons. They both correspond as the same. Tmcc mode might show added icons/features that were added to your S2 if it had any extra features like in lighting, etc.

As for sounds, I don't see the difference in RS or in RS5 when using a RS engine with the RS 5 setting. I would just program it as RS.

Perhaps someone can elaborate.
