Display case project

Superb display case!  (Especially the bottom shelf - ).

Very cool. The trains in the back can be put on a 2" riser so you get a view of both the trains in the front and back  of a specific shelf .

I also sometimes put Engines in the front and freight in the back if not using a riser. Once again a very nice piece of furniture.

Lee: Very nice I will be building a new one and was not sure about staining thinking it would take away from the trains but yours is beautiful and the trains look great in it. What is in the bottom?

Paul #1, I specifically made the top wide enough so that the E-8 ABA would fit !! lol

I added a few more to the display cabinet. My Rock Island Reefers which were Atlas undecorated cars that I painted and decaled and the Burlington reefers which are Intermountain kits (found another one on the bay so will be adding it when finished).

Lee. that is some classy work!  It is evident that you are truly a skilled craftsman.  I like the plexi doors to keep the dust out.   For lighting you could also look at the LED strips people use for lighting passenger cars.  They're inexpensive on eBay and come in long rolls that can be cut to the length you need and adhered to the bottom of the shelf above the trains.

Light would be a nice accent on a nice cabinet. There's a lot you can do with it.

I like rope lights for the softness, dimming, and ease of use. 

Man am I envious, what a great looking Display Case.

Thanks Joe, The Base is 60 5/8" wide shelves are 57 1/2" wide and total cabinet height is 61"

I air brushed the roof and walk way on the new Intermountain kit and added a LionChief 4-6-4 CB&Q . And as usual "Tommy" supervizes everything !!!
