I purchased a used MTH Doodlebug with Protosound2 (30-2710).  I never ran it until now, when I was testing it out before reselling it.  The unit seems to work fine in DCS, including engine, bell, and horn sounds.  However, when I activate the PFA, the unit stops and locks as I would expect and holds until I cycle through the <Dir> button presses, but there is no dialogue or announcement as I might expect for the PFA feature.  Also, there is no 'chatter' while it is sitting at idle.  All of the engine and other sounds work fine.  Is this normal behavior for this unit?  The original instruction manual seems to indicate that there should be PFA like other PS2 engines. I am guessing the sound file might be corrupted?  The battery seems fine.  Any thoughts?

Answer to my own question.

MTH Doodlebug with ProtoSound2 (at least the one I have) does NOT have PSA functionality.  Although the box, instruction manual, and website say so.  The PS2 Doodlebug (again at least this one), uses Station Stop Announcements (SSA) just like the ProtoSound2 PCC StreetCars- a very cool effect.  You would never know this by reading the manual.  The TIU Manual (appendix E) explains the SSA functionality which applies both to the PCC Streetcars and this particular Doodlebug.  Thanks to the gentleman that pointed this out to me.  Hope this helps somebody else as confused as I was.
