Watching some of these layouts come together at what seems like lightning speed I just have to ask:  Do you have a "crew" of buddies who help put it together or do you pretty much go it alone?  Seems like some folks must be dedicating 10 hours a day on the construction!  I begin to feel like the CL&W is stuck in a timewarp, with the one friend who helps maybe one day a week.  He's been a great motivator as well as drawing up track plans, etc.  Feel lucky to have his help.

Still, it seems to take FOREVER to get anything done!

Systems,  I am coming up with systems.  Next year I can cut a load off the build time.  My kids help with certain things, but their schedule for sports, school, scouting, homework really makes it hard to get more than a couple hours a week from them.

When I was making my mountains out of shop towels and fast setting drywall mud,  2/3rds of the way through I came up with a quicker way to do it.  I also realized if I would have made most my rock casting (approximate 100+) before starting the mountains, I could have set the rock castings at the same time and I think it would have come out better.

This year I have been able to wire the layout quicker, because I learned from last year.  Just an evolution from year to year.
