Yup!!! And as luck would have it...a passenger train heading for the “Sweet 16” where everything, including the freights, are resplendent in maize & blue!

A bunch of nice photos of one of my favorite railroads.  The green pacific was on my sit on the fence till i see it.   Pea green was not on my list of favorite colors.

Humm ... It was reminding me of Neville Island on the Ohio   near Pittsburgh but the architecture isn't quite right.  On the other hand, Harpers Ferry just might work in that regard.

Great article.  I want to reread it when I have more time.  The B&O was a great RR with one of the best paint schemes in the east.  I'm STILL waiting for my preorder Lionel B&O milk car from last year, but will post it once in hand.

That is tons of great reading there, Brian!!  The B&O predecessor BR&P ran through Butler. It is the Buffalo and Pittsburgh now.  My maternal grandfather was a fireman on that line prior to WWI.  He was disabled in France and never was able to work.  My grandmother had a life passenger pass and received RR checks until she passed on in 1978.

Well this week added the MTH 20-40033 five-car set to the two cars and RPO car.  This will replicate the B&O "Shenandoah" consist rode round trip to D.C. back in 1958.

Nice B&O stuff guys! Here is a photo of the old roundhouse and yards at the B&O shops in Washington, Indiana 1940. My grandpa on my Dad's side worked there as a carman in the late 30's and my Dad and a couple of his brothers did too before being drafted into the service in the 40's.

A B&O "The Columbian" reprise.

In the past post bits and pieces here.  Now to put it all together.

The Streamlined Lightweight all coach consist was introduced May 1949.  Two complete consist with the first dome cars east of Chicago.  These were lower (about 7-inches) then domes before. Originally pulled by passenger GM F-units. In the 54/58 era pulled by AB e-units.

Am partial to The Columbian because my first real train ride.  In 56 or 57 rode it round trip from home B&O depot to Chicago.  Departed depot just after Midnight arriving about 0900 hours.  Spent all the O-Dark- Thirty hours in the dome.

MTH made a good replication of these with 5-car set 20-6565 and 2-car add-on 20-6665.  All with SILVER trucks correct for The Columbian.  To the best of my recall the only B&O consist with silver trucks.

When they pulled mail to Chicago a Heavy Weight RPO car was added to front end.

The significant cars in these set car:

The domes were named "High Dome" and "Sky Dome", the Observations "Washington" and "Chicago", the diners "Pittsburgh" and 'Akron."  In the late 50's sleepers were added. one named "East Akron."  So MTH did a pretty good good.

I will pull with:

The E-units on test stand after powering the B-unit.
