Well, I do...Having spent time with friends at Dolton IL and seen 3 or 4 IHB switchers on a transfer run, or at Valley Jct in East St Louis watching the TRRA (and everything else that comes thru there) .

SOOOOOOOO....

In a break from the usual, we've decided to do 3 roads numbers of our special run of the MTH IHB SW1500, and 3 road numbers of the TRRA SW1500.    I havent figured it all out yet, but there will be discounting for purchase of 2 or 3 units of the same road name.  If you already ordered, the discounts will apply.  If you add to your order, the discounts will apply.  I just havent figured it all out yet..

I'm kinda running on empty these days what with working in LA M-F, and then trying to get trains out over the weekend....but so far, so good.

I'll have updates shortly...maybe tonight.

Thanks,

beth

I think Mr. Muffin has pre-sold a very significant (if not all) of the two road numbers of the Lionel Penn Central GP30s he is doing.

I say this without know minimum order required, cost per unit and if it helps your other pre-orders but I think you might sell a few more of the PC than you think if it's pure business and not a passion project.

Hate to say it, but anyone who gets into this business to make money, is in the wrong business.  Almost everyone who does this, has a passion for trains, in one way or another. For many model train dealers (probably most) , Model trains is a side hustle, piggybacked on a more profitable business.

Part of the fun of doing a special run, is doing something you like.  And like with everything else, you hope to at least break even, or have a few bucks left over when your done.

Im already working with MTH on 3 more roads for the SW1500, for delivery in about  year.

Beth, I've always said you are the hardest working person in O gauge. Period. I remember you setting up and breaking down your displays at the Edison Center in Jersey for Greenberg shows and York in the brown hall. I never saw someone put so much work into it as you have. You have to have a passion for it or you wouldn't go that far. We need more people like you in this Hobby.

Beth - Over the last few years I have enjoyed and appreciated buying from you (and will continue).  You carry many products I like and that fit with what I model.

I would suspect that it's a tough way to make a buck for a million different reasons.  As with the majority of folks in the hobby, we all tend to advocate for what we like.  Some sells, some doesn't.

I made my pitch, understand it doesn't fit and thank you for entertaining the suggestion.  I believe Nicholas Smith is doing a special run Lionel Penn Central SW7 so I will have to be content with that.

Best,

Jim

I wanted to do SW-8's and 9's and 1200's, but the MTH model of these engines is not to scale.  The front hood is too long.  Like NW-3 long (if u know your diesels)   Its also older tooling, that isnt as detailed.   The very latest tooling of the Railking Scale engines are the good ones.   The C-630 isnt bad either.  Even tho it is 1990 tooling, it was weaver tooling, and they had a little more attention to detail than the early MTH engines.

You are correct.  The Railking SWs are a little too big.  I don't like to run them near my Atlas SWs.  I have several of both and do not like the side by side visual.

To me the Lionel SWs are 'as goldie locks would say', just right.  Probably closer to to Atlas, maybe a bit bigger.

Agreed, on the C628/630s.

My million dollar question is who or where did the Weaver RSD15 tooling go???  I have several that I plan on re-painting your favorite road (penn central) but they are conventional, so they need an electronics upgrade as well.

I am the weaver grave yard; 3 RSDs and 3 U25s to repaint and upgrade electronics and several C62?s and RS11s, to possibly upgrade electronics.

Another jarring visual is the MTH PC RS11s next to my Lionel PC RS11s.

It appears in modern O Gauge trains: SCALE is a SUBJECTIVE concept.

I just fact checked myself and according to wikipedia? O scale is 1:48 to 1:43.5 - There's my answer.

sorry to mix this post Beth. I don't know those roads for the switchers so I went to your site for a look. On the preorder page up pops my favorite car!

Pre-order for Atlas O Hooker chemicals 17,360 gal tank car, 2 rail or 3 rail - The Public Delivery Track

or

Pre-order for Atlas O HOKX (occidental) 17,360 gal tank car, 2 rail or 3 rail - The Public Delivery Track

Where I used to work for a short time.

So I have to ask about road numbers. I don't see that listed? Just one? 4 as in the past?

Thanks, Joe

Most recently, Atlas has been doing these cars in 4 road numbers.  You can call them 8774731968...but they probably arent sure either.  I think 4 road numbers is safe.

Also have the earlier Hooker orange 17,360 tank cars in stock (2 left), and a number of the Occidental (HOKX) tank cars from prev. runs in stock.

When it comes to car numbers, I never send anyone 2 of the same number, unless they ask for that.  (I've answered this question a million times. Who sends ppl 2 of the same road number?  )

Answer to Weaver RSD-15 question...Weaver never made an RSD-15.  It was the RSD12.  Same carbody as the RS-11,  with alco trimount 6 wheel trucks.  Atlas has the tooling.  I have about a half dozen of the Weaver ones here...

As for the M&E SW1500......I'm doing a special run of the M&E RS-1, in the red (later ) scheme.  The Railking scale RS-1 is another of the late tooling, really nice scale engines.  Im doing it in 2 road  #'s.  15 pieces of each

Wow !!! To go from no TRRA diesels ever to be able to do triple headers !!! So Awesome!!!!  So next year -  Manufacturers Railway  and Alton and Southern would be an awesome compliment to the TRRA. Both had SW1500s.

I saw Beth's upcoming MTH SW1500 in TRRA, but I'm a 2-railer.  Too bad they won't be MTH Proto-Scale 3-2.  Speaking of switchers, if MTH doesn't come through on the other SW1500s, I'd LOVE to see Atlas release the MP15DC in A&S (number #1522), as well as re-release MRS - one of the best paint jobs IMO.

Heck, add in a re-run of Mopac too.  I missed out on past Atlas O MP15DCs but did get an unpowered unit in Mopac.  Back then I was naive and thought Atlas O would surely re-run such a successful model.

I think availability of 2R switchers would really help 2R take off.  It would allow for smaller radii and switching layouts where modelers can be more prototypical where space may be limited.

The MRS is Sweet.  They never turn up in the secondary market. Yes it would  be nice too for Atlas to reissue it and MP.970D2558-EA8E-4248-9283-7F4C84E5D64E13D40C69-E5E0-48B7-8781-F7DEF86AD840I think it was also issued unpowered. Now Wish I got one of those too !!! 🤔

Ive requested from MTH to do MRS and A&S SW1500's  after we get thru the TRRA and IHB ones.   If all goes well, they will go into production in 2022.    The TRRA and IHB ones should be here in Sept. of this year.

beth

TRRA by September  !!!  😮😳😜  That’s incredibly fast. Q-ing up runs of MRS and A&S will be awesome too !!!  We need power to be able to push around those beer Reefers !!! 😜🤪🤪

Well Beth,
I see MTH has shipped the TRRA diesels so I assume you have them by now. I assume I will be seeing an Invoice very soon (gotta have that cash flow, eh ?).  Sure hope so as I will be wanting to make balance due payment asap !!!  I’ll be excited to get these babies up and running in my “yards”.
Cheers !!! 😜

PS Looking forward to a next announcement for MRS and A&S.

A lot of ppl still dont know that the lines between Railking and Premier, Atlas master and trainman, etc., have been totally blurred.  U just have to know what's detailed and what isnt.

Lionel bought the Railking SW-1 tooling, changed the electronics, and now offers it as a $ 549. engine in their high end catalog.

Anytime anyone says "i only buy Premier or Masterline", Its like a red flag going up saying "I dont really know that much about model trains"

FWIW
