Just a reminder that the monthly DuPage Show is this weekend. The January show is usually the busiest of the year. AND the weather should be good too.

I will have a table there in the main hall,bringing UP GP40 and GP38,TIU, AIU, remote's, Up heavy weights, scale size rolling stock, ATSF-ABBA, UP K-line side dump. And other stuff to fill car. I have a lot of diesel era rolling stock can't fit it all.

I just saw that there's a big show in Schaumberg the following weekend. It's closer. I'm going to that one.
Or you can do like we are and go to both.
DuPage will have a larger variety of private vendors and almost no operating layouts. Much better pricing and the chance to find things on your wish list that aren't still for sale in your LHS. It is primarily a swap meet style buying opportunity. ANd a chance to see all your friends that come every month.
The other show will have manufactuers reps and booths, a lot of layouts, and a lot of things for sale at pretty much regular hobby shop prices. All scales will be represented with O scale in the minority.
I love both shows for different reasons.

Yes Dupage will have alot more stuff, but lets be realistic as far as prices go they'll be just as high as any hobbyshop, some of the used stuff is outrageous. I may try and go haven't been in awhile, its fun to look

In recent shows I have bought brand new Atlas cars for from $25 to $35, which I feel is outstanding. MTH buildings for from $20 to $40. Brand new K-Line Chicago Metra engine for $215. I could go on, but maybe we have different ideas of what constitutes a good price?
The last thing that you can't put a value on is the chance to see and spend time with good train buddies that you haven't seen since the previous month. Priceless!
- Merlyn from Caboose Hobbies in building 3 always has brand new merchandise at discounted prices.
- Bill Hirsch in building 1 has excellent prices on brand new merchandise.
- The gentleman in building 2 that sells the Artista figues discounts everything.
- Tom from Berwyn Hobby has new merchandise at good prices.

Don't worry, we ALL know you. I really miss our 7:00 AM breakfasts before the show. And yes. this show is worth going to. On many occasions I have found great deals on rare items.
Art said it very well, it is all about seeing good friends. I really miss the show as I am now 1,100 miles away.

Well, I kept a table there for about 2 years, but eBay became
easier than a 5 hour drive on $4 gas...and I came home through
a couple of doozie snow storms...
I definitely miss it, but wasn't finding that much and there is no
shortage of competition in the Chicago area if you are trying to find something interesting. The last time I was there the back building was almost empty (economy has a lot to do with it) but it is sure worth the sight seeing if you don't have to drive from another time zone. Like York you gotta go to see it once.
Almost no O scale ever showed up, in spite of a major annual O scale convention now held close by, and a lot of O once made in
Chicago area, nor any basswood or construction stuff if you are into scratch building.
