So I haven't had any nibbles on the OGR "Want to Buy" about the MTH Illinois Central DAP 5-car set. Fair enough.

Check ebay. The same Brady's Train Outlet at $399 and fish-n-train at $499. Nothing new there.

Try another Google Search. Come up with the same Auction last year that I totally missed one at a great price. Mental note to self, figure out how to find those better.

Hmmm. Wait, doesn't MTH have something to find inventory at authorized dealers? One is Grand Central. Then another is E-Z Catch blah blah blah. Never heard of this store before. Need to check it out. Hands down the most non-train non-hobby website for a place that sells MTH trains I have ever seen...

So I click on the eBay link and I end up at ......

fish-n-train.

Going down as this weeks biggest DUH. Maybe I should go hide in the corner before I hurt myself.

E-Z Catch used to be called Scag's Trains before he moved  It is run by Pat Scaglione in Staten Island  He is known on ebay as fish-n-train. Beside the trains store he ran a bait and tackle store in his old location  He also owned E-Z Catch Crab trap factory   He relocated the store into the front of the factory when he sold the other building.

In Mount Prospect, Illinois, there is a bicycle shop that sells Lionel trains on the side in the far end of the store; I think it something to do in the winter.

In my home town of Broadview (the town bisected by the Illinois Central RR, go figure), there was a bicycle shop ran by an older Italian gentleman that put up with me coming in now and then, would run into him at DuPage, bicycles in front, and a few Lionel trains in the back.

About the same thing?

Caution –

EZ sells NOS items in the market after they have been depleted. He sells the now (rare) items at a much higher than the original lowest price. There are a few others that also do this hoping some - - - - - - won’t know any better.

I do have to give EZ credit for still having the high priced product. MTH had to replace my LIRR RS-1 when the new & improved PS3 smoke unit melted the shell.

EZ & KOSS were the only two high dealers who still had the over priced item before the warranty ran out. MTH had to cover that transaction after I suggested legal action. They wanted to get a new shell painted overseas causing 6 more months of delays.

Here’s an example - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Long-I...;hash=item487a58e43f

$449.00 + 20 to ship? for a VO1000 which has been on the bay for years now.

I don’t think so.
