The magnetic wand changes the volume like the Atlas units right?

What type of DCC do you use? NCE?

The B&O looks nice! I agree, I believe I am going to order a set of CB&Q units from the 2nd run.

My DCC system is Lenz.  I'm sure that I can change the volume with the DCC system.

Just curious that you say "The best engine sound I've ever heard," yet you note that "it lacks low end, the horn is thin, and the bell muddy"????  Doesn't sound like a good recommendation to me!

is there a way to change the sound volume when it is on plain DC?  We are not fortunate enough to have DCC.  On an MTH PS2.0 or 3.0 there is a volume pot.

Yes, I said the best ENGINE sound that I have heard.  Most prime movers sound like they were recorded inside of a muffled box.  The engine sounds are muddy and indistinct.  The OSI sound is clear and open and lacking unnatural reverberation. A good prime mover sound is important to me as this is what you will hear constantly. The low end isn't bad, I'd just like more of it. It's probably due to the choice of speaker and/or the speaker enclosure. When I open the loco I will know more.  In addition the QSI decoders have lots of adjustments so there may be an equalizer somewhere that I may be able to adjust to improve the low-end performance.

The horn and bell sounds are not the best, but they can be replaced.  Only the bell I rated as unacceptable. I spoke to the QSI representative at Springfield about the Titan and he said that it can be reprogrammed with the Quantum programmer.  The Titan is designed to hold many different sound sets, so it's possible another horn and/or bell is hiding in there somewhere. 

Mike, Sunset's documentation says that the volume and decoder reset can be done with the magnetic wand.  Possibly some other functions, but they do not say.

 Cool but hmm cause for concern?  A properly engineered and discrete magnetic pickup tool could possibly pose a risk.  Much like how I used to have a remote IR program on my Palm Treo which allowed be to turn off TV's in stores, restaurants and public spaces.  

After playing with the loco and its horn and bell for a couple of hours, I'll retract my comments about the bell; it's OK.  The acoustics of the basement must have been playing tricks on me.
