I good friend of mine asked me to help him get his PW Lionel 'set' operational about six or seven years ago. After taking about a weeks worth of evenings to clean up, lube and replace a few parts, Bruce's trains were up and running. He had received this 'set from his aunt in Buffalo, NY.
A couple of weeks ago Bruce called to let me know he had something for me. He has been retired for a few years and decided to unclutter his house. Bruce has always been a man of simple means. Well, he presented me with his old 'set'.
Over the past week, I again took the time to clean and lube everything. And, right now I am enjoying watching these old Lionel pieces run around the simple loop of track that Bruce ran them around. I called to let him know 'his train' was up and running again! He was quite happy. Most likely, I will run them under the tree this year. It's an early, but nice way to start the season!
