I would like to update my email address. Can I simply change this in my profile? Will anything be interrupted? Are there more steps?

I just changed mine in my profile when I wanted to change it, everything else worked out just fine.

Go ahead and change it. You may have to log back in again using the new email address, but that's about it.
Make sure to change it in both places - your account/login area and your display email,. which is the email that other members can see.
You may also want to have a different display email than the member email, something to think about.

The login and display email addresses do not have to be the same.

I just changed my email address via my Profile, thanks for the info. But I have to say the confirmation email is confusing/illogical. Despite what it says (see below), if you DID make the change, and want to keep it, you DO need to click on the "VERIFY" link. Otherwise you keep seeing red warnings that your email address is unverified! And if you DIDN'T make the change, the email doesn't sent you any place that will give you any help straightening it out.
