I have an MTH Premier F3 that I upgraded to PS2 when the diesel upgrade kits first became available.

The unit has a 3 volt battery.

When the engine would not respond to  START UP command, I first tried charging the battery with an MTH battery charger through the charging port.

I then tried to start the engine in DCS. Got the ENGINE NOT ON TRACK message.

I deleted the engine from the remote.

I tried reentering the engine from the remote with the recharged battery. It would not enter. After the process was finished, the engine took off on its own.

I purchased and charged a new MTH 3 volt battery and installed it in the engine.

When I try to add the engine to my remote, I get a NO ENGINE TO ADD or ENGINE IN REMOTE message. There is no engine in the remote (that is not assigned to a different known engine.)

I did a factory RESET 1 horn; 5 bells in CONVENTIONAL. Got 2 toots. Engine runs fine in CONVENTIONAL but I cannot get it through remote.

Remote and TIU are Version 5.0.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Reset remote , Yep everything will be deleted.   Use a test track or programming track  to  now  try adding  the engine with no other engines receiving power anywhere on the layout.

I can understand no wanting to reset the  remote but at least try a small test track.

A spare remote really comes in handy at times like this..... good luck.

You could make sure ID #1 is available by editing the address of the engine in that location to another ID.
