Hello,  I’m new to the O gauge trains and recently bought a 2018 Lionel Ac6000. It is item #  6-84852. My question is all sounds work fine and it moves forward and backwards but does not rev up and down with throttle. It’s blue tooth and I do run it off my phone. Is there something I’m missing? I’ve adjusted the volume on the app for engine sounds and chuffing but nothing changes. Any help would be appreciated. I’ve ran ho for years but just started O gauge.

Thanks, W

There is a section when you push on the gear where you can control engine sound and chuffing if steam. As well as pitch of horn. I’ve looked all over the internet for an answer and can’t find one. I have an email sent to Lionel but have not heard back.

Yep, interesting that every single demo which comes up uses a steam engine rather than a diesel

Hi All, not sure if this will help anyone in the future, probably was already solved given this was from 2019 but it came up for me.   I have the Alco C420 from the 2019 Catolog p/n  1933430 I just bought.  Found this thread after it wouldn't rev up for me.  Lionel told me the only way to get revs out of these is to have the legacy remote.  They said the 2020 models will rev with the universal remote.  Maybe the 2019 models but she didn't know for sure.  So that is a big bummer, probably wouldn't have bought it if i knew this prior.  Oh well.  I like the simplicity of the universal remote, especially with kiddos running them.  But instead of buying a second universal remote for future locomotives I may have to spend the $$ on the legacy remote.  Will see.

Also agree with the steam being a notch above, they are so cool to run, watch the moving parts, steam whistle and so on but seeing some diesels you see today is cool too.  Only diesels on my radar will be ones that kiddos & I see in our area like Amtrak and Canadian National with bluetooth that can run on 036, rest will be steam.

IMO, you never need the TMCC Lockon if you have a decent transformer with proper circuit protection.  FWIW, if you use the TMCC Lockon, don't plan on running any MTH DCS stuff, it kills the signal.

I ordered the  “new and improved” cw-80 so might as well say I’m using that one as that is what I plan to use soon.

What's "new and improved" with the CW-80.  IMO, I'd skip that troublesome product and buy a real transformer.

Thank you for the advice!  I was told the "new and improved" CW-80 has a fast acting breaker? I read another power forum where you mentioned the 180 watt powerhouse is a good option and doing some reading does seem like a good option.

They said a breaker and fan cooling? Hmmm, I wonder if i can cancel my preorder and buy a different transformer.

Some of the first Legacy w/ Bluetooth diesel engines have a code bug where the engine won't ramp using a Bluetooth controller like the Universal Remote. So you have to use a Legacy controller to get that functionality. That has seen be fixed in the code.

The new release CW-80 will have redesigned electronics that will be based on the PH180 electronics, so it'll be a stout little transformer. But if you ever want to run more than 1 engine, I would suggest going right to a GW180, PH180, or hey, get a ZW-L!

Thank you Dave! I wasn't planning on going legacy but this little locomotive with a bug might lead me to it since it can't be fixed.  (assuming it can't be fixed or swapped with an updated code?)

One thing lead to another is my experience so far in this hobby haha, I have a feeling I should/will take gunrunner's and your advice and upgrade now to one of the transformers you are mentioning.

One question Dave, will the output waveform still look like this?  That's my major issue with the CW-80, that drives some electronics nuts!

Any chance that folks could get an upgraded part to repair the existing locomotives?
