My TIU is version 6.10. I have 2 locos that when I power up and hit the read button DCS finds the engines with no issues. If I start to scroll the thumbwheel to get the loco to move it starts up with sounds and will start to move wherever my scale MPH is set on my remote. Am I correct that PS3 locos should run silent with no lights until I hit the start up button? I have swapped out TIU channels and still get the same issue. I have also done factory reset on the locos which removed them from the remote. They added back in with no issues. Any input is appreciated.

That's normal behavior with PS3 locomotives. PS2 locomotives will move silently before being started up. PS3 automatically start up if they are addressed and the thumbwheel is moved.
Lou’s got the right answer here, ….hit the thumb wheel if they’re addressed and they wake up ready to work,,…..

Thanks for the comments.......So between the time I posted and the replies came in I tried a few P2's and they will run silent and dark. I own a bunch of P3's and never knew this. Did some P3's run dark/silent (Like maybe the first ones)? I kinda liked that feature on a P2.
I was thinking about this a little more and I kinda remember that back in the days of P2 my repair guy would call this "stealth" mode. So not only did we lose the battery, we lost "stealth" mode too when switching from P2 to P3.

Well, IMO the battery was no loss!

I agree. Saves the expense of a BCR
