I have been using the DCS Wifi for the last couple of weeks at our shop. I am only having one problem.  When an engine drops down into the inactive list, I cannot select it to move it back up to the active list.  If I tap it as Barrys' book describes, nothing happens.  The engines are on powered tracks and if I switch back to the remote I have no problem moving the engine around.  Have tried it on two different layouts with two different TIU's (L & I3) with no change.  For you others that have been demoing the WIFI unit, have you encountered this or possibly see something I have missed?

Hello MRMACHER, When you go to the start menu, there should be on the top left side a circle with an arrow in it. Touch that circle with arrow and the app should read your engines. Then go to the right side of the start menu and touch the check mark on the screen. It should be blinking. You should be able to touch the engine that you want to start. Make sure that you TIU and wifi is powered up and talking to one another. when you tap on the engine that you want to start, the TIU light on the wifi module should blink..........................rogerw.

Brian,

The DCS App is like a DCS Remote in Normal TIU mode.

If you have more than one TIU on the layout, make sure that the WIU is plugged into the TIU where the inactive engine was added, and that the inactive engine is on a powered track connected to that TIU.

If you only have one TIU on the layout, make certain that it has the same DCS ID# as the TIU to which the engine was last added.

If the above conditions are not met, the app won't see the engine and cannot promote it to the Active Engine List.

If the WIU is plugged into the TIU on whose powered track the engine is residing, however, the engine was last added to a different TIU, you can delete and re-add the inactive engine.

On the other hand, if you have only one TIU on the layout that has the same number as one to which the engine was last added, then I have no clue as regards what is going on.

Thanks for the replies.  Barry, I am running only one TIU at a time, each engine is added through that particular TIU as I test it.  Rogerw, I new about the refresh button.  Using that button pulls ALL inactive engines that are on powered tracks into the active list.  I was trying to only pull one inactive engine at a time.  I'll keep working at it.

Hello MRMACHER, I started up my layout using the Wi-Fi app. All of my engines did show up in the active list. I was able to pick out of the active list which engine that I wanted to start. Once I picked out the engine that I wanted to start, only that engine started. I do have 5 other engines which are in the inactive list. The reason why they wouldn't show up in the active list is because I have them on a separate track that has an on/off switch connected to it. If I turn on the on/off switch, those engines would be added to the active list....................rogerw.

Brian,

How is the DCS signal in the zones where the engine cannot be found?

I have run into this problem on two different layouts where the read will not work when the second fixed TIU channel is on.  It will find the engines if that channel is powered down.  Bad signal in that channel??? I don't know.  I am going to try different TIU channels to see if there is a difference.  My engines read 8s,9s and 10s

The layout at the shop has no DCS engines on the second channel, only one Legacy engine.  The read will not work with that channel powered up.

I get a 'time out' error

Dave

I read RogerW's reply to the question about getting an engine out of inactive to active with the DCS WIFI setup.  I tried the same thing, but the "check mark" on the screen that should be blinking as he described it did not blink.  Hence, I was unsuccessful in moving it out of inactive.  Any other suggestions from anyone.  The engine did run with the DCS Remote, but now of course not the WIFI
