Does any body have an erector set bridge on their lay out?I mean does it carry the weight of your trains pretty well?Because the look like its all metal.Let the replys come forth.

The bridges built with square girders are particularly strong and should even carry standard gauge locos. A single square girder requires FOUR individual flat girders, so the caveat: it takes quite a few to make a decent size bridge!

Makes me think of timex tv ads."It takes a licking and keeps on ticking."
Wow, this reminds me of the 1950’s, AC Gilbert’s big red metal cases, with lots of nickel colored steel curves, straights, red angle iron corners, electric motors, and screws and nuts, and so much Play Value..... Imagination, going Wild...Great Thread, Great Bridges, all fantastic memories.....NOW, almost 70 years later, we have 3D Printing, Home Computers, Instant Communication, Social Media, The OGR Forum....Happy Railroading...
Anybody collect A.C. Gilbert's Erectorbrik ceramic red construction bricks that weigh a ton.? My brother and I had several sets and played with them for years, building structures on the layout, on the living room floor, and out in the yard to blow up with fire crackers. Like to see pictures of some of them.
Hello, I am building an S-scale layout. In the pics of other people's designs that had AF trains, I saw they included erector parts in their layout. I'm searching for details and parts for a truss bridge that can work with a modern AF train built by lionel.
Here are two pictures of my old America Flyer layout showing bridges made from erector sets.

This short video shows a big, heavy MTH PS3 Jersey Central FM Trainmaster crossing an Erector Aet bridge given to me by Leroof.
That bridge sits on top of a piece of wood about 8 feet long and 4 inches wide that supports it.
I had another bridge there before I installed the Erector Set bridge. The Erector Set bridge provides more stability and the train run better over it than the prior bridge I had there.
