Just wondering What is considered a small motor and a large motor when it come to both of these kits? Cruise commander = used in large motors. Cruise commander lite = used in small motors. I put cruise commander "lite"in a 2 can motored MTH engine and it runs beautiful! Should I have put the regular cruise commander in this engine instead? There is not a substantial price difference between the two. Thanks.

What's the benefit of the lite one. Is it smaller or some other advantage? If not then I vote for the standard one.
Cruise Lite is rated for 4 amps while the Cruise Commander is rated for 8 amps.
Normally a two motor engine only draws about 2 amps unless it stalls. Then they can draw over 5 amps. That will blow the board unless you fuse it.
The Cruise Lite is smaller and meant for smaller single motored engines.

OK that gives me a better idea. I'll stick with the standard cruise commander from now on.
The CC-Lite is pushing it with two standard sized motors. It's really designed for smaller stuff. The 4A rating is also somewhat "tongue in cheek" IMO. I smoked the drivers in one by stalling a K-Line Interurban when it snagged on a switch. The actual measured stall current of that locomotive was 3.2A, so the CC-Lite couldn't do that for the 10 seconds or so that it got hooked before I shutdown the power. I use the CC-Line in stuff with two motors, but I also install a PTC inline with the motor to protect against excessive current, that's how the Interurban is configured now. I have also used the CC-Lite in small steamers like the A-5, and the B6. The sloped tender doesn't really leave much room for full sized boards, so it's a good fit.
I use a lot more of the full sized Cruise Commanders, but I've installed probably 20 of the CC-Lite boards. When they were first announced and were really dirt cheap, I ordered a dozen, those are long gone now.
