Some footage I was able to capture on the set's inaugural run from Candor- Pinehurst- Aberdeen and return! The event was kept well under the radar until the day of, so chasing was a fun and easy way to bounce around the NC Sandhills.  A two hour layover in Pinehurst beside the #2 course was an awesome opportunity to get up close with the engines. The paint is definitely different, with the body coat being similar to a "candy finish" on hot rods, with the color hues consistently shifting due to the lighting.    Here's hoping Lionel will start to utilize neighboring NC lines for product development and bring some regional pieces to O!  Especially when this road rolls by only a short distance from their home office..  Will update the post with images as I get them edited!

@breezinup That's correct! Just the 270 and it's B unit made the trek down.

@SteveH  Thanks for watching! The livery is hard to showcase well on screen, but it's much better to enjoy in person once you see light hitting it in a few ways.   My hope is that they'll realize NC has plenty of roads that would be more than happy to assist with product development, with plenty of options for 3D scanning and recording long overdue fresh sounds...Capitalize on being a resident NC company, most folks still don't know they're based in Concord now!
