It's whatever you make it. The first time you set the E-Stop button to display or use a top speed setting, you create a password once.. Then, down the road, you enter that password any time you want to hide the E-Stop button or disallow top speed to be set.

From The DCS WiFi  Companion 2nd Edition, page 123:

Hide E-Stop Button

Although many DCS operators consider the E-Stop button to be a very useful feature, others find that it can be annoying if it is tapped accidentally. Therefore, the DCS Application allows the operator to choose whether or not to have the E-Stop button be available.

To change the visibility of the E-Stop button, tap on the selector to the right of Hide E-Stop Button to toggle its visibility on or off. This feature requires the use of a password, as described below.

Set Max Engine SMPH

At times, it can be useful to limit the speed at which a DCS engine may be operated, particularly when a small child or other inexperienced visitor to the layout is operating trains using the DCS Application.

To set a maximum speed for DCS engine operation from the DCS Application, tap on the selector to the right of Set Max Engine Speed Lock to toggle it on or off. Once the setting is on, it is not possible to change the maximum speed of any DCS engine. Note that when the maximum engine speed is set, it is set for this DCS Application only. Other DCS Applications, operating on other smart devices, are not affected. This feature requires the use of a password, as described below.

DCS Application Password

The first time that either of the two selectors above are tapped, the operator is required to establish a password for the DCS Application. Any subsequent modification of either setting will necessitate entering the password. If the operator forgets the password, in order to change either setting it becomes necessary to reset the DCS Application, clearing all of its contents. Resetting the DCS Application is described later in this book in Part XI - The DCS Application’s More… Screen, 2. DCS Application Settings Screen.
