After taking apart a section of my layout for cleaning and putting it back together my fastrack o72 switch isn't working properly. Now the switch will not operate with my legacy cab 2 controller. My first thought was to reprogram it but that didn't work. After making sure all the rails leading to it had a proper connection I still couldn't get it to work. However while inspecting the switch I noticed if I touched the bottom ( metal shield  ) while sending a command it would work. I removed the metal shield to see if I could see some type of short. Found nothing. I then reinstalled the switch with the shield off. It would worked with out a problem. I reinstalled the shield and again the switch would no longer work. I thought maybe the PCboard was shorting out on the metal shield so I put electrical tape over the top of the board. After installing the shield everything works fine now. My question is should I order a new board from lionel or should I continue to use this board? I don't want there to be an electrical problem that could damage my trains while they rolling over the switch.

GUNRUNNERJOHN,

thanks for the reply, I did see the wire (antenna) in the switch. I will double check to make sure the lead is connected properly. I thought it received the commands through the track rails. Learn something new everyday. Funny part is I disassembled the switch next to it (this switch works fine) I noticed that the antenna wire was still bundled up in the corner while on the switch that is giving me issues the wire was lead throughout the switch.

Jason,

Guns is probably correct about the antenna wire, also make real sure your track and switch are seated properly together, especially if you are using track power like I do to operate the Command Control Switch.  The only problem I have ever had with a Command Control switch was with an LED, it was bad before I even used the switch.  I am not sending it back to Lionel to have it fixed, I use the controller track side to identify what is going on.  These CC Switches are pretty stealthy stuff, never had one go bad yet.
