Here is a plan for a beginners first layout for the Lionel Train Table in the recent catalog.   The dimensions are 86x58, including a 3/4" border all around the table.

The outside oval is O48 with O60 turnouts making the cross-over pairs.   It has an O60 section leading each half-circle as an easement.

The inside oval is O36 with O48 turnouts making the industry spurs.  It also uses O60 turnouts and sections leading into each half-circle as an easement.

The layout includes the animated freight station, oil derrick with "nodding donkey", the milk can unloader, and the rotating beacon on the mountain, as animated accessories; plus Lionel's Work House with sound.

Here is a variation, including the Granite Run Quarry and train set from the most recent catalog.   Position a loader and dump truck in the quarry for little folks to play with and load a gondola.

Thanks for the comments gents!   This might make a nice layout to give to the kids or grandkids for this Christmas.

This includes a minor adjustment, stretching the spur adjacent to the station for greater length.   There is now 22+" clearance from the turnout points to the bumper on the lighted-bumper track section, enough length for a hopper (9.75") plus a switcher.  The docksider O-6-O is 9.75" long, and will work nicely for servicing the Morton Salt spur.
