Finally getting my first train room (9.7.21 update)

Update (9.7.21)

No construction yet.  Placed an order for Phase 1 last month with Mianne and just waiting on the materials to be produced and delivered.  Had to break it into phases so that it was more affordable and that I could work on that phase until the others came in.  Otherwise I would be waiting until all the funds were ready and never get anything done.

It will be an around the room layout and have 3 levels (Subway level, Ground Level, and then a Multi-Deck 18 inches above that.  The determination of the Multi-Deck is going back and forth between doing an HO layout or using it for model display area... for the boxes of unbuilt model airplane and nautical kits taking up space in storage LOL).

In the meantime, I am collecting more and more stuff.  Scored this beautiful JFK Express subway advertisement from the auction site.  Interesting that I chose to temporarily display it for this photo shoot in front of Pan American Airways Route Map.

I guess looking at these photos that one can't tell the theme that I'm going towards...

The Corvorado from James Bond's Live and Let Die.  I chose this particular MTH 3 story building to be my first kitbash.  I will repaint it and rebadge it as the "Fillet Of Soul" in Harlem

And to round things off, the "Welcome to Brooklyn" sign from the Welcome Back Kotter TV show

Wow! Where did you get that Welcome to Brooklyn Welcome Back Kotter sign? I remember seeing that sign as a kid. I heard it got stolen once or twice so they changed it to a different sign which wasn’t as cool. The sign they have there now is boring with a capital B.

You really have to stop posting pictures of NYC buses, Kevin - you are becoming a very bad influence

And I love the Bus Stop sign... all true New Yorkers know that it was just a suggestion, not a legally binding requirement

I made it myself.  Obtained a clean image off the internet and scaled it to be 5.5 x 2.5 inches so that it would fit perfectly in the MTH Lighted Billboard Sign.  I will be repainting the sign structure blue to match the color in the TV show.

I just emailed you a copy of it.

Everything looks great, Kevin!  I agree, the Welcome to Brooklyn sign is great!  I do remember it from the show.  No, I’ve never even been to New York City, but great looking everything!

Looks great Kevin. Your collection is quickly outpacing the available space (true for most of us).

NYC Bus stops were kind of like horseshoes or hand grenades- close enough. But park within 100 yards of one and a ticket would magically appear on your windshield.
