Probably a short. The 1225 model was way before the time of self diagnostics like the S3 #261, Vision Line Hudson, and more legacy engines have. Shouldn't be any problem. If it doesn't stop eventually open shell of engine and look to see if wires going to cab light are connected properly or if one of them is pinched.

empt 53- take your engine move switch from program to run place on track, apply power, press eng ID number then set, then press eng and ID number again and then press aux 1 button and then the number 1 and then set and then shut off power wait 10 seconds, place switch from program to run and then apply power and then restart engine. is light flickering then? By doing above you have reset engine.-Happy Railroading!!!-Don Klose

A steady flashing light is most likely NOT a short, this loco DOES NOT have the diagnostic codes as Mike stated. I do recall another thread involving a "strobe effect" that could be inadvertantly turned on in certain Lionel products. There are reset instructions in the back of your owners manual,if that doesn't work I would send an EMAIL to Lionel customer service tech support. They wiull be able to direct you as far as any other resets.
