Hi Bryan,
Your Black & White pic of the crossing, with the Liberty Herald above the cross bucks, also with the steam loco in it, do you have an idea where that pic was taken? Looks like to me like it might be Middlesex Borough, N.J. (Cedar Ave). I also notice a signal bridge in the backround. Grew up in that area! Back then it was the CNJ and the Lehigh Valley Railroad, of course both railroads had their own trackage. The main road running parallel to the R.R. is Lincoln Blvd. Middlesex Borough, at one time, was originally named Lincoln, and it may have been when the pic was taken. Thanks

Are most grade crossing accidents because drivers don't see the warning lights and gates? Or from them attempting to beat the trains or stopping on the tracks?

Insulated out side 3rd rail wired to a relay. Relay activates the 252 crossing gate and a flashing circuit I built for the 154 highway signal. I built a flashing circuit following the plans in this book.
