John Handlogten, of the Rockford O Scalers, has recently completed some flat car loads featuring heavy equipment.  John used prototype photos to create the blocking and tie down details for each car.  These "open loads" always attract the attention of people viewing the models, whether they are in the yard or in moving freight trains.  Attached are some photos of these cars.

What similar cars do you all have on your layouts?

Frank,

can you get the depressed center car to clear curves?

Yes, actually the depressed center flat car handles the curves just fine and clears the grade crossings, etc., without any problem.  We also checked the overhead clearances on the three bridges we have on the layout to make sure the ring gear load would clear and it does.
