FleaBay strikes again!

I have been buying trains on eBay for over 16 years. Most are great, some have been bad.

I just bought a K-Line NYC Alco set for $35 shipped that was listed as not running. I figured it wouldn't be too difficult to get them running and if I couldn't get them fixed, then I would have some good parts. The only thing wrong with them was too much grease on the gears that caught a little piece of plastic. A little cleaning and they run and look like new.

I haven't had an issue on eBay that couldn't be resolved.

Marty, it's your prerogative how you conduct your business, but I really don't see the logic in refusing a repair job just because it was purchased on eBay. A broken train is a broken train regardless of where it was bought.

Ok...maybe I'm paranoid and maybe I just can't be bothered but the few times I have sold items on da Bay seem to attract idiot buyers looking to make everything the sellers fault.  I sold a brand new, unopened in the master carton, diesel for a stupidly low price.  Because it was never opened and new I made all the disclaimers and caveats that your buying this as is...as in I can't make any warranty about it.  So of course I sell it and then after the buyer opens it all up he finds out he can't get the horn to work.  He sends me an email wanting to know what I'm going to do about it.  Skipping to the end I told him "nothing" and several ignored emails later he tries to file a complaint with da bay.  Only in my case he lost because I listed everything clearly and that all sales were final.  I won but was very annoyed.  And as for people wanting to pick up items when I list shipping fees or include shipping...the answer is no.  I don't care if you live next door to me...just because I am selling you something on d Bay does not mean I'm going to have you come to my house, meet me in a parking lot or hide it under a rock for you to pick up.  Happy to ship anywhere but I'm not meeting you anywhere.  I spell that out too and I still get yahoo's trying to pick it up.  So I just gave up selling on d bay.  I still buy stuff and have never been burned but I know my stuff and am as careful as can be.  Hey...but that's just me.  

My son dose a lot of selling on e-bay and to a much lesser degree so do I.  From what I understand it's the buyer that holds all the cards with e-bay.

Not only can a buyer crush a sellers reputation with a bad post, but they can hold up your pay pall payment for the simplest of reasons. That's why you must get paid before you ship. I sold about ten items myself and out of the ten one was a minor problem. This person wonted their money back because the building I sold them did not fit their layout plan. It was a new, in the box structure and the seven pictures I posted of the box did not adequately show the color of the item.  

That was not a big deal I just simply e-mailed her that all sales where final and to enjoy her new station. Of course I gave her a very good review. 

Now if there was the slightest issue with the condition of the item e-bay would pull the monies from my account until all issues where settled.

But, that said most people are honest though there are a few characters out there.
