Hi Everyone,

I have been doing some structure kit building and eventually will jump into some scratch building as well. I am in the process of detailing the inside of a structure I am working on. I would like to have wood flooring for the project. Not too long ago I tried using printed sheets for this purpose. Depending on how it looks once all the the other details are on it, I may continue using it.

My question is, what materials do you use for this purpose? Even if the printed sheets work I would like to  have more than this option for variation.

I don’t do a lot of interior detailing. I mostly build with wood and tend to over brace the inside of the structure. Most of this would be visible. If your looking for a wooden floor. Micromark in there wood section. Offers ships planking. Individual boards glued together with a black glue. The thing with wood is. You can distress it and gouge it up. Something you can’t do with a paper print. Not cheap. But for a certain structure that the flooring is clearly visible it may be worth it.

I almost always use very thin balsa sheets. Costs almost nothing. Scored and stained with brown ink/alcohol, I think they can't be be beat, especially if you want an "old, worn" look. Weather them with  colored chalks:

Wow that looks amazing!  Superb work.

I just noticed the horseshoe over the doorway too.

Dave, Pete, and Mike I appreciate the replies. These are all great ideas and Pete your results are outstanding. Is the wood secured to your bench work or do you put it on something else? Also, do you have problems with warping? Mike, I might have to take a trip to HD. Do you have an example of how  you used the samples that you can post?

I generally build my structures on masonite bases. The floors are attached to the masonite using double-sticky scotch tape. I have never had warping issues.
