"This is the Polar Express"  "Tickets Please"  "The First Gift of Christmas"

Today my first generation of the Polar Express came out of the box and on the layout.  It's annual time on the track to enjoy.  Yes, there we a few problems with the wiring in the front engine truck and the car light wires had to be resoldered, but I still enjoy the set.  Time to watch the film a few times.

Am I the only one of this group enjoying this holiday set?

Both my grandson and I have Polar Express sets.  I have S gauge and he has the LionChief O gauge set.  They both are going up on the Christmas village display this weekend.  I really love the S gauge version but the sound is not nearly as loud as the O gauge version.

The volume of the S gauge set was a disappointment to me also. I found the remedy was to replace the original speaker with a Fatboy speaker from ERR. We had set up displays at a number of Christmas shows and with the high ceilings and the crowd the the Polar Express talk was lost, it was greatly enhanced by the replacement of the speaker.

I have my Polar Express locomotive under the tree this year, but pulling a consist of S Helper Service Christmas cars for a change of pace.  We are not doing train shows this year for obvious reasons.
Usually by Christmas Eve the Polar Express set with add on passenger cars has logged 100+ hours.

Look at about the 46 second mark for the Polar express.
This year I get to have my PE set at home.
