Here is a great, original early prewar Lionel Standard Gauge train set that recently came from an estate. It has the #38 electric engine, two #35 pullman cars and a #36 observation car. This set is in great, all original condition and still has its original box, an oval of track, the original light bulb container and track clips. I don't think this set was ever really used. The paint is all original and very bright on all the pieces. The lettering is strong and all the items are complete. There is some paint wear to the top of the engine but it still presents extremely well and is nicer than most examples that are found today. The engine runs in both directions and the head lamp works, but I am sure it could use some servicing if you are going to operate it. It looks like someone replaced the wiring awhile back. The cars are excellent with their original air tanks, steps, couplers, window inserts, etc. The original box is intact but the sides are worn as expected, however, the cover graphics are still very nice. The oval of track is very clean and complete with all the pins and a small boxed set of track clips. This is a good set and very hard to find in this condition.
The price is 500.00 plus 65.00 for shipping and insurance within the USA. I might consider trade for other original prewar standard gauge.
