My late husband took great joy in collecting tinplate.  He also refurbished and restored.  I have a LOT of parts,  tracks, cars in need of finishing, stamps, etc.  All of these are no good to anyone who doesn't know how to use them or, in fact, doesn't care about tinplate and beautiful, old toys! I have tried to sell some of the original and the restored pieces, but the market is ridiculous and I just can't let them go.  However, ALL the items and boxes of accessories, tiny parts, etc. I am offering you for free.  I just want someone to gain pleasure from them again.  You would have to box up and take away, however.  Anyone interested?  I will attach a picture as soon as I can, so keep checking, ok?

That's a generous offer. You are saving the better restored pieces for your family members, right?

If you want someone to come to pack up the miscellaneous items you will need to disclose your location in New York State. This forum has participation from all over the country and beyond. It would be best if someone in your area could offer to do an appraisal on the items, to be sure you aren't giving away anything real valuable to someone who might just resell it.

I was fortunate to acquire parts items from the workshop of a deceased friend and I continue to make use of the items. I gave a respectful payment for the items and assisted in cleaning up the workshop. I hope you will find a trustworthy local person who can assist you in an appropriate manner which is mutually beneficial..

Thank you for your thoughtful reply.  I have never been in a "forum" such as this--am I answering you privately right now?  I did have two people appraise and they didn't want to even offer an appraisal for the basement, since they felt that it was too much work.  They did appraise the trains that are either original, or completed and the amount they offered was negligible, so I decided to hang onto those for future generations, or a museum, or wherever--couldn't just give them away.  Your advice is sound, however.  I live just south of Syracuse, NY, by the way.
