Wow so much great stuff starting so early on a Friday!

I'll see Patrick's pair and raise another Y6B

Don I'm glad our little gathering place can offer respite from your burden.  Still working the prayer beads for all y'all.

Since we're paraphrasing great movie lines:

She's a beaut Bob

With apologies to Sheriff Brody, "We're gonna need a bigger boat, a U boat!" Thanks for the inspiration Paul.

Arnold that 20th Century Ltd is gorgeous.  Who made it?  The B&A Hudson made like the Enterprise and went to maximum warp speed when it cleared that S curve.

BUMP...BUMP...BUMP....BUMP....BUMP......BUMP.......(que the trombones....)

So here's the back story of @Apples55 Paul and my little back and fourth. I have to give an honorable mention to @Arnold D. Cribari who's comment about my RS11 started the latest thrust and parry.....

I had bought a D&H GP9 several years ago. I loved the paint scheme as soon as I saw it. Sensing my weakness...Paul had offered me a pair of MPC UBoats (previously shown) as he was clearing out some old stuff that he didn't run anymore. Being a techno-peasant, Paul didn't want to mess with them. After a mutually agreed upon transactional fee....a quick run through the RSJ&B shops yielded very few problems.  A quick cleaning an lube and the MPC classics were ready to run.
As my liking of the D&H had quickly turned into an obsession, I found the above set of Williams Sharks on Trainz at a good price. That was April of 2019.....needless to say given that last night was the first time they've been on my layout under power, Paul had a good reason to keep "poking the bear" so to speak. I should note that I took them out of the boxes and right on the layout and off they went. The "B" unit has William's tru-blast sounds.
So now that they have finally seen the light of day, and the planted seed has grown, matured and been cut down, I guess the only thing left to do is sit back, pour a single-malt and enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Bob

Oh... then there's always that pesky "time to building a bigger layout"........ nudge!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming......

You said it, not me (this time anyway )!!!

And since you’re raising the “bigger layout” issue, you know what would look spectacular behind those sharp sharks??? A nice set of blue/silver/yellow D&H passenger cars

Don’t forget, Bob… no drinking Single Malt (or other adult beverages) and driving trains - don’t want to see an entry on some “My Worst Accident” thread

You mean like these.......

And I always drink and train responsibly.....

Not really what I expected out you Paul.  I thought for sure you were going to tell Bob the RKs needed to go for some scale size cars.  18 inchers at least.

Oh and Bob on the single malt!

I think you’ve got me all wrong, Joe I’m so happy that Bob has a set of matching passenger cars. If I really wanted to keep poking the bear, I could have brought up a beautiful scale D&H PA pulling a nice set of Lionel aluminum 15 inchers…

Or maybe a scale PA pulling a set of MTH scale 70’ cars (but they require 42” curves, so they are out for Bob unless he’s been very liberal with the single malt!!!)…

And before I forget… when are you going to start building a layout?

Ahh! Now that's more like it.  So Shiny! So long! So much D&H to envy. I think Bob may be planning a trip to Malverne.

As for a layout, my allotted spare room will only yield a 4x8 and it's grudgingly giving me that much space.  Too many boxes in the way.  My wife has grown tired of it and is looking to have part of the front porch closed in and added to the den to give me more space.  Just what I need to re-plan for the fourth time since we got here just when I was embracing train life in 32 square feet.

Here's my ends of the front kind for this fine Friday!    Today's front ends feature the latest and the earliest front end on my railroad.  These two front ends span 66 years.

Reading F3 ( my latest acquisition and addition to the FSJR roster ) This is a K line car body and chassis   with MTH Proto 3 sound and smoke.IMG_1639

Front end of a Lionel postwar 2065 ( my first locomotive received from Santa when I was 4 years old ).  She still runs great!  IMG_1667

Our photographer was out taking some photos on a very warm March day in 1949.  He caught a G5 pulling out of the station for a one car commuter run to a close-in suburb.  This was one of his favorite engines, although he knew through talking with G5 crews that they hated it for its very rough ride.  The Pennsy sacrificed ride to build the largest and most powerful 4-6-0 locomotive (OK, the SP had a one-off 4-6-0 that was heavier.)  Its fast acceleration made it an idea engine for the start-stop commuter runs.  121 were made in 1924, 90 for the Pennsy and 31 for the LIRR, and many lasted to the end of steam.

New York Central 10 Wheeler #1232 on the Harlem Division turntable in North White Plains, getting ready for a run to Lake Mahopac. The train will leave the Harlem Division at Golden's Bridge for the steep (100 ft per mile) 7.22 mile climb on the Lake Mahopac Branch to where it intersects the Putnam Division at XC just south of Lake Mahopac Station. On this climb, the pounding of the locomotive's cylinders could be heard for miles.
