Well Happy Front End Friday to all :  Well you know that management of the Leonardtown and Savannah is very "frugal" and has been experimenting with diesels and 2nd hand steam for some time.  Today they are trying something really new...electricity.  They found that the city is going to electrify the track from the downtown to some of the key suburbs - like "Small Town" and so they might need an electric engine.  So today they are trying out the Lionel 520 Box Cab from 1956-1957 to see if electricity works for them.  (note - I have skipped over how they managed to get catenary  to use but you have to summon up your imagination)

Here is my second attempt at a video.  Hope I can repeat success .

Don McErlean, Wow, your a master at making Mini-Flicks, great videography, and I love that passenger train, headed by a beautiful red locomotive.  The #520 is a Lionel favorite of mine, although I do not have one at this time, it brings back memories of the past. Today, I’ll try another attempt at a video, all because of you and Arnold’s great advice. Yes, it’s my rebuilt K-Line NYC Hudson #5343.... Happy Railroading Everyone

Hi Don McErlean, it’s a work in progress, there is a limitation of MG’s, and I was unable to show the wonderful smoke output do to my juggling act, Cab 2 and IPhone. So, here’s one going backwards off the turntable showing the Mike output. One day, it’ll be easier... Happy Railroading Everyone

This Erie FA pair was at our annual Asheville Show last weekend. Regretfully, I damaged the center of the nose decal in cleaning but overall, she's in great shape! No Alco 'Hump' and fine stripes.

Joe. Thank you. My home layout is progressing quite nicely, although there is still really a lot to do. Now that Covid19 restrict club operations, I am pleased that I started a new project.

Last week at the St Louis Transportation Museum. That's me in the first photo on my 58th birthday.

Happy F.E.F everyone, and Happy Birthday Dave Ripp.  My selection today is a little off normal, I decided to post some Hafner Trains.  William Hafner and his son John started the company making toy trains around the turn of the 20ths century and kept at it until John sold the company in 1951.  They never made an "electric train" always feeling that electric trains were so expensive that they weren't toys.  Here is the one of the last versions of the Hafner streamlined steam engine, the #2000.  It followed the #1010 that had run from 1938 until early post war when Hafner decided to "modernize" their engine offerings.  This guy lasted, under the Hafner name, until about 1952 and then was offered as a Wyandotte toy (the parent company of Wyandotte toys bought the Hafner company in 1951). until about 1956.  This one is Hafner as the Wyandotte name does not appear.

Here is the F.E.F shot, showing the streamlined front end.  The light is powered by a single "D" cell battery under the hood near the boiler front, the lever peeking out the front in the position of a front coupler is actually the headlight switch.

Here is a shot showing the side graphics and his little train, also Hafner of the same time period.  He has a reasonably good clockwork motor, and can power himself for one complete circuit of my modest layout pulling this little train.
