Sorry to hear that Bob. As I’m sure you know, the anecdote for a rough day is a glass of your preferred libation and a running of the trains. Heck, the smell of ozone is enough to give me a lift, LOL!

Thanks Strap.

Fortunately the day made a turn for the better this afternoon. Didn't stop me from my second glass of Pinot though. Ozone therapy is next. 👍👍🤣🤣

Santa Cruz Big Trees and Pacific Railroad FP7 rolling across the intersection of Pacific Ave. and Beach St. on it's way back to Roaring Camp from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. The FP7 has to be one of the ugliest locomotives I've seen personally! Big Trees has 2 FP7's purchased from AT&SF after they were converted from F7 covered wagon's! Santa Fe removed the beautiful F7 body and made what you see in this photo and they were relegated to yard duty until they were sold to Big Trees. The loco is ugly, but the day was beautiful, and don't you wish you were riding that train heading up into the Santa Cruz Mountains and Redwoods.

I may have posted this photo before in this forum, I don't remember. Enjoy it twice. ;-)

FYI: It's a CF7, not an FP7.

CF7's were also used on local freights.

Santa Fe did a little more than "remove" the F7 body.  The CF7 was a total rebuild right down to the frame because an F-unit carbody is part of the supporting structure.

Rusty, yes you are correct CF7, apparently open enrollment has taken a toll on my feeble mind. Thanks for correcting me. It's still ugly!

Here’s my contribution to FEF! It’s a classic GP9 from Lionel issued in 1997. It’s a Pennsylvania model, and although it doesn’t have the detail of today’s engines, it was my first with TMCC and RailSounds. I only run conventional, but these sound great, from the EMD 567 engine to the “blat” of the horn. It brings me back to the late 50’s, and the sounds of these in the Hoboken terminal, although those were DL&W engines. I moved out here in 1995, so I had to have it. It still runs and sounds great!

Well hello F.E.F folks, can't believe another week has gone by already...but here we are again checking out those "front ends".  Flyplanes, Amfleet 25124,& mikeg those front ends of modern diesels (or real ones) are neat.  rjsmithindy the GS-4 is really beautiful. Strap hanger great yard switchers and tnkmarx I like those 45 ton engines and I see some scale Marx and a 588 type switcher in the background.  Artie-DL&W that is a real classic Lionel GP7.

So today, I am going to try to be a little different.  I am posting some front ends from some early UK toys from a company called "Brimtoy" or "Wells-Brimtoy" . These little guys are 0 gauge and clockwork but were always on the low end of the toy market compared with say Hornby.  I just like the way they look, although they do run but their clockwork mechanisms are not particularly strong.

Here is the Brimtoy "Britannia" locomotive with his "Lion and Wheel" tender

And here is the Brimtoy "Silver Streak" which also should have a tender but alas I don't have it!

Happy Friday everyone, have a good weekend.
