Decided to try and make a fuel column. Used plastruct parts I had on hand.  I am not a scale modeler so being it is a little large I am still pleased with it. I may order smaller piping and parts and try again. Still need to order the pump motor.

It looks G scale. Did you compare the real dimensions?

It does look super nice though. Very accurately detailed.

No Joe I did not, I knew the parts I had on hand were probably too big anyway. I may try again and order smaller parts (I used T6 piping). Either way I think it will be ok. If I was scale modeling I would be more concerned.

I agree. I didn't mean to bash. It looks great. I also bought all the parts from Plastruct to make one. When I compared the real drawing to what size I would need, I think they didn't have them in the correct size? or I just messed up?

Having the detailing look that good is more important than having it to exact scale. Your eyes are drawn to the detailing.

When I bought the correctly sized air hose ends for my diesels, I was actually shocked at how small things were. I bought a set of coupler pockets for a switcher that appeared to be HO scale. They wouldn't accept KD couplers. I came to the conclusion that most stuff is oversized and we accept that.

Joe, what size piping were you considering using?
