Lionel has them and they don't deteriorate.

In case the correct nomenclature might aid your search, they are usually called diaphragms.

You don't want K-Line ones. The rubber deteriorates. The Lionel ones posted above are the identical shape but will last as long as the car does.

I purchased my first K-Line heavyweight passenger car in August 1994 and its diaphragms are in very good condition. Of course they have not been squashed by putting the car into the Styrofoam without removing them. John in Lansing, ILL
I bought a bunch of new Lionel diaphragms during their annual half off parts sale. They fit perfectly in my K-Line heavyweights with a slight bit of trimming at the bottom. They fit in and I secure them with a touch of ACC. An inexpensive way to go.
I can provide details if you are interested
I never noticed they had a door impression inside
I like my observation car too much to leave it off
My K-line's diaphragms are mostly fine as well. I did have one that split on about every fold, but the others are ok. (no zinc pest signs on any yet either)
