I've tried that most are out of stock.  Not a very accurate accountability from MTH.

True some stores place items on the MTH list and never update it.

While that makes you check them all, you will soon find out who the bad stores are, we have found many MTH dealers do not list on the Product Locator so you can call randomly and still discover one.

(There is even one listed you know where now.)

It is not MTH's responsibility to make sure dealer's update their listing or use it at all. I've seen stores with it hopelessly out of date. My now-closed LHS owner always tried to take an item off the locator once he wrote up your bill. If not at that moment, I saw him make a running list of items to take off later in the day.

The primary store I deal with now is a one man show and he already works very long hours keeping up with day to day business but always makes it a point to update the listing every few weeks. Both my current and former LHS owners say it is a very, very valuable tool for their business.

That's why I said "Good Luck".   It's always a bit of a hit-and-miss proposition, but it's unusual that everybody listed is out of stock.

I give MTH kudos for offering this type of inventory management system -- even if it's up to the dealers to update it so it reflects an accurate view of a particular store's inventory.  But ya just can't force dealers to do what they don't want -- or think they need -- to do.

I takes all kinds out there.  Some dealers update it religiously.  Others NEVER even put their product out there.  And still another group of dealers use the Product Locator as a means of NOT building a website.  There's a small train shop in Frazer PA who has told me more than once he's gets so many calls from buyers finding his inventory on the Product Locator, that he doesn't feel it's necessary to have his own website store!!!

Different strokes for different folks, as they say.  But it sounds like this thread has uncovered at least one store, Pat's Trains, that has this caboose in stock for you.  And Pat is a great guy with which to do business.
