Check with Ross switches - I got the Bowser power upgrade kit from them a couple years ago,  so they can probably still sell the belts.

 That's pretty clever. I own both a Millhouse River as well as a Diamond Scale with a Millhouse drive upgrade. This reminds me of my dirt bike days. As suspension travel got longer. All kinds of tensioner were used to keep the chain on the sprockets. 

 Your design after studying the photos is pretty cool. The spring can be swapped out to get just the right tension on the belt. The idlers look like a nut and bolt with a plastic bushing that the belt rides on. A lot of cars have something similar for their timing belts.

 Will. If it's the back side of the belt that is showing wear. An old trick from the dirt bike days was to use a quality skateboard roller as an idler. These feature roller bearings and are very free spinning.

Dave, thanks for the tip. The belt seems in pretty good condition but is stretching over time.  Sooner or later i will want to replace it.

Steve has the belts and still sells the upgrade kit.

Dave C,  you pretty much figured it out.  The 2 pcs of aluminium U channel hold the 1/4" lattice so it can float and slide as necessary.  The rollers are rubber with a metal insert.

to elevate the belt issue i just installed a direct drive antenna motor to the Bowser turntable.

Nice solution, Alan.  How does it move under a full load (with a heavy locomotive on the table)?  Does it jerk, or is it smooth?
