Hi Folks,

The GGD Full Scale and O42 Projects are moving forward and should be produced in 2021. In preparation for this we are adding some choices on the SP Daylight Train Offering that customers have requested.

The Full Scale Cars will be offered in both Southern Pacific and Southern Pacific Lines lettering.

We have added the 3/4 Dome Car (Brass) to the offering.

We cannot make the 3/4 Dome car as an O42 18" car. It's a special Brass production that needs to be one version only.

If you already have reservations for the SP Full Scale cars and wish to have yours lettered SP Lines, re-enter your reservation as a correction and we will make the switch for you. We will be emailing you this information.

The Info Page is:

The Reservation Page is:

Thank you again.

Just put in my order to 3rd rail for the SP 3/4 dome car. I'm well aware this particular dome car has never, and I mean never been made in O scale, so really look forward to actually seeing it sometime in late 2021. I sincerely hope there are enough orders placed so this project actually goes ahead and happens. My enthusiasm aside I realistically don't expect Scott or any other importer to produce anything without a sufficient number of orders for the item already in place.

Really hope it happens!

This is a really great addition !!! Yes never done and I suggest people step up and reserve as I’d bet it may not ever be done again - IMHO.

THANKS Scott !!!!

Hi Folks,

The Amtrak Amfleet and Viewliners are finishing up and the SP Daylight and Dome/Lounge cars are next to be produced. We will be closing reservations on May 21st as we have to give them the detailed quantity of the order based on your reservations.

To see the details of our offering please go to our web site:  http://www.goldengatedepot.com...ervation.html#GGDO42

To go straight to the reservation page: http://www.3rdrail.com/reservationGGD.htm

The new SP Daylight cars will have improved LED overhead lighting, better fidelity of the roof vents and details and each car will have magnets imbedded in the ends of the scale diaphragms, to allow you to put our flexible diaphragm between each car, held on by magnets. Also there will be 10 premium seated figures per car from our Little People line of figures. Each axle in the truck will be supported by ball bearings, for super smooth and easy rolling. 2 Rail Kadee mounts will be available for 3 Rail by request.

Below is a 3D image of the Tavern Car with the body shown transparent.  Notice the roof is smooth, not corrugated as others have modeled. GGD cars are scale inside and out with each car designed faithfully to the original builder's drawings.

I shall take this that you have the "Licensing Agreement with Amtrak" for these unique cars?

FWIW, "and each car will have magnets imbedded in the ends of the scale diaphragms, to allow you to put our flexible diaphragm between each car, held on by magnets."

you should SERIOUSLY off these full width diaphragms as a separate part just like the undercarriage detail for all those generic aluminum streamline sets by other mfgs! The Walthers ones [If you can find them] are a PITA!

I think if we don’t like the diaphragms we can just leave them in their boxes.
I like my 3rail run one single cars without diaphragms. They are really close and Look Great !!!  The articulated cars over the common truck are a bit further apart and might look better with a diaphragm. I chose not to as I didn’t like how they looked.
Personal choice.
I like options !!!!!!
Cheers !!!!

Hi Scott,

What is the deal with:

”2 Rail Kadee mounts will be available for 3 Rail by request.”

If us 3 railers are interested in putting Kadees on, do we need to request this on our order up front for install at the factory or is this an add on part we can get with our set of cars to facilitate installing Kadees?
