I've been a bit slow on the draw, but I expect to pull the trigger on a Charger in Amtrak and one in Metro-North this year.

It's a bit of a dilemma, I could see situations where a future Amtrak consist would rate doubled-up Chargers, but the thought of having three $800-ish locos coming due in one shot is a trifle intimidating on an order of magnitude greater than those five Viewliners I bought (I 'm in the habit of paying off my plastic in full every month). I have plenty of Genesis locos, but those are of course all DCS, so no MU-ing any of those with a Charger other than a "stunt" consist,  where I run the train with two remotes.  So far as Metro-North, this would be my only (?) chance at getting a current-era Metro-North unit around the time they're taking delivery of their Chargers, and since no prototypical M-N consist rates double-headed power, their being TMCC isn't an issue.

Sure makes a lot of sense to me! A commuter charger seems relatively future proof and a Phase 7 Amtrak Charger will perhaps look nice running alone with an Airo set one day.

Ugh he's killing my wallet. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad this is all getting made, but I remember when these projects got announced he said they would all be produced separately to lighten the load. Oh well....

Scott has said repeatedly that he will work with you to pay and deliver over time.  Certain large order entities have taken years to pay for an pick up their stuff.

So true @rdunniii. My method is just before reservations close - or when announced, I decide what models (#s) I can afford = how much I’ll spend. Production typically will run 6 months (+or- a bit). I then figure how much to send in each month. If affordable, I go for it. If too much, I don’t reserve as many models. I like to have all paid by delivery time. Just me. 😉
