I have a couple of engines that have the lever type brush assembly. Can I replace those with the coil spring type without having to replace the type of armature? I think the pre-pullmor armatures have the collar on the commutator side where the pullmor is flush. I don't like working with the lever type assemblies and want to eliminate having to having to stock both types of brushes on hand for backup.

In many cases its a direct swap. Just add the caps to the wire leads and swap out the brush plate.

If I remember correctly the later brush cap with coil springs needs an armature (XA11077)? with the oil slinger at the commutator end, otherwise the new brush cap bush will short out against the commutator
