I'm disappointed.  I was at the Gilbertsville show last Spring I believe.  Gilbertsville was one of the first train meets I attended, back in the late '70s.  I usually tried to catch even one until I left "O" scale in the early '90s.  It's only about 45 minutes from me, right up Pa. route 73.  I always found something there.

IMO, the larger train shows ( the one stop venues) have forced the smaller train shows out like Dover and Wayne.  Back when I started in this hobby there were well over a dozen well attended train shows in the NJ/Eastern PA area.  Now only Allentown, Greenberg's, a few TCA chapter shows and York remain.

Dennis, you've neglected mentioning the train show at the Fire House in New Hope. A nice size show with a fair representation of N to G scales with new and used items.

That's been my experience, as well, both for what I used to be able to attend, and regarding what remains for attending nowadays. I don't know if Timonium, one of my old haunts, also, is still operating, though.

Are you talking about the one that's behind the McDonalds on Bridge St and Sugan Rd ?

Part of the big change (though these were not small shows obviously) in the SE PA area vs. 20 years ago was the closing of the Fort Washington Expo Center, as well as the demise of the Great American Train Show  (GATS - sort of similar to Greenberg for those that don't remember it).  We used to get both Greenberg and GATS at Ft Washington regularly.  Of course the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center at Oaks came to be after that closure (or maybe opened even before, I could be fuzzy on that detail) and now hosts Greenberg and WGH once in a while.  I've still not visited that venue.

Also, the smaller show (not tiny, but smaller than a Greenberg or Allentown) at Hamburg still survives apparently.  I haven't been to that in years.  80 miles each way for me, which is a bit past my limit (I'll drive 60 to hit Allentown), unless I really really feel the need to get to a train show.

There is another tiny little show just outside of PA in Delaware, though I haven't been to it in years.  Nur Temple in/near Wilmington DE.  I know I've seen flyers for it at other meets recently.

It's been a while since I've been to Gilbertsville, sorry to see it go if the loss is permanent.

I went to that show once several years ago. IT's a long drive for me down pa 309. In the end for me it was not worth it as there was tons of HO and N scale and some Old postwar and MPC Lionel. NOthing of interest.

The Hamburg Show is Better for Lionel- NEw and Old. Alas, the next Hamburg Show is at the same time as Amherst so I will not be going to Hamburg. IT's Da "Big E" for ME!

Yes, that's the firehouse.

Before you post information like this above, make sure it is ACCURATE! The Wayne show at the PAL hall in Wayne, NJ still is an ongoing show about 4 to 5 times a year. I don't think John LaLima from East Coast train parts would be happy seeing what you have posted here.

THIS SHOW IS  A WELL ATTENDED SHOW.
