I have a Lionel GP7 that has the engineer and his platform, on the inside of the shell, fall out.  Upon taking the shell off it appears that this part slides over 2 tabs sticking up, but there isn't enough friction for it to stay in place.  There doesn't appear to be any glue on the part or where they may have melted it above the tabs to make it stick on.  I'm not sure what kind of plastic the shell is made from, so I don't know what kind of glue / epoxy to try and use.  Any thoughts on what type of plastic the shell is made of or what to use to hold this part in place?  Thank you!

One of the hidden parts of this hobby is: knowlege of adhesives.  Note that most glues have an MSDS sheet for safety concerns.   Safety meeting of the day, Read/understand the MSDS sheets.   Tough to say that one adhesives fits all projects, IMO.  Example: Woods/paper, white glues and yellow construction glues don't work with with plastics, glass, ceramics, etc.
